After having seen Ruby perform in the choir at the Town Hall a few times, this year it was Ava's turn.

"Dynamite" was a crowd pleaser. Ava wouldn't let me post the video but let me know if you want to see it.

When southerners drop by

Yesterday we had a visit from the lovely Monique and Danielle. It seems whether in Australia or NZ, we are destined to live at opposite ends of the country. The girls were in town to see Florence and the Machine who are playing at the Vector Arena tonight. If only I'd known they were going, I would have got myself some tickets!

Anyway, it was a great catch up. We really must try to get down to Queenstown some time soon.



What a production!

Last week was the girls' school production of Vaudeville! Here are some snap shots...

The year 6 girls "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy" dance was a great hit!

Eadie's class did "Singing in the Rain".

Whilst Ava's did "Give a Little Love" from the movie Bugsy Malone.

Then Ruby's class did their number which was, oh, I seem to have forgotten, but it was all good!

Choir girl

Last night Ruby performed with a massed choir in the Town Hall. The performance was part of the APPA (Auckland Primary Principals' Association) Festival of Music. The school choir put in hours of practice including several practices throughout the year with other participating schools.


The choir began with the New Zealand national anthem sung in both Maori and English – it gave me goose bumps!

VIPs

Last weekend Steve and I were invited as VIP guests at the Diana Krall concert at the Villa Maria winery. It was very swish indeed with lots of good food, wine and music, all set amongst the vineyards. I was on my best behaviour and tried very hard to curb my urge to guzzle!

There were other jazz artists playing also most of whom we watched from the screen at our table. We also received CDs of all the performers beforehand so that we could get acquainted with their music. How's that for special treatment?
